Supporting Traditional Jazz in the North West of the U.K.

You are currently listening (I hope) to The Isradixie Jazz Band based in Tel-Aviv, and Recorded in 2004. What has this got to do with the North West, you may ask?  Well Merton Cahm, who  is still playing clarinet and tenor sax., in both Dixieland and Classical Music settings, plays in the band, and was on the Manchester Jazz scene, in the late 40s and 50s. Merton is an ex-Manchester lad, cousin of Eric Lister (Smoky City Stompers clarinetist in 1940s) and he now lives in Tel Aviv. The best news is that the band are hoping to visit the UK in the not too distant future,  and if this sample is anything to go by, it should be a sell-out!  Jazz Promoters and fans should watch the site for further news. If you can't hear the music try this link
